As per the JAFZA regulations, an FZE and FZCO are mandated to maintain records for each financial year for accounting purposes including transactional, contractual, and financial documentation and supporting documentation. These records must be maintained for 6 years from the date a record is created and should be made available to the shareholder, auditor, director, or any other person authorized to inspect the records. The date of commencement of a Financial Year can be changed, provided that it does not exceed 18 months or be shorter than 6 months. The accounts of the FZE or FZCO must be approved by the Directors and must be examined and reported on by an auditor.

According to the JAFZA regulations, an auditor is required to audit the accounts of FZE and FZCO entities annually and prepare an auditors’ report. Auditors have full rights to access the records of FZE and FZCO that may be required for an audit as considered necessary by the auditor, and the required information must be provided.

Responsibilities of an auditor in JAFZA

An auditor in JAFZA must examine and ensure the following aspects in his report:

  • Identify the standards or principles used in preparing the accounts and assess whether the accounts are in accordance with these standards and relevant laws.
  • Assess whether the accounts present a true and fair representation of the company’s financial position.
  • Auditors should also inform any of any other findings or opinion
